In here role at RWJF, Lavizzo-Mourey oversees $10.5 billion in assets. For over 40 years, the foundation has supported public health initiatives such as the establishment of the current 911 system, smoking cessation, hospice care improvement and other causes. Dr. Andrew W. Gurman, MD
Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Gurman, served as Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates for the American Medical Association (AMA) and co-chair for the National Business Group on Health Racial/Ethnic Health Advisory Board.
In June 2016, Gurman took the lead as AMA president, drawing attention to the highly charged topics of gun violence, drug abuse and value-based medical reimbursements. In his role as AMA president, Gurman urges Congress to increase spending on gun violence research. He also serves as board liaison to the AMA Advisory Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues.

President Barack Obama
Constituents elected Barack Obama as the third African-American senator and then to President of the United States, holding the latter appointment for two terms spanning between 2009 and 2017.
