Here are nine apps to help you manage your life as an online student.
- iStudiez Pro Legendary Planner – This comprehensive student planner works across all platforms and devices to help you organize virtually every aspect of your college experience. - Google Docs – This all-purpose word processing program is also an excellent note-taking app that includes the ability to collaborate easily with study groups and group project teams. Other added benefits? It’s probably already on all your devices and includes a voice typing feature.
- Dragon Dictation – As an online college student, your time is precious, and anything you can do to save a minute is a big deal. A 2016 Stanford University study compared voice recognition in smartphones to texting by hand, and the voice recognition was significantly faster.1 Dragon Dictation offers Dragon Medical Speech Solutions for Clinicians, and many hospitals already provide their clinicians with access. The software is HIPAA compliant and includes interfaces to several of the most widely used electronic records, such as Epic®, Cerner®, eClinicalWorks, and many more. If your clinical setting uses Dragon Dictation, it may be worth the investment in this speech-to-text app.
- Speech Logger – If you are looking for a voice-to-text app that is affordable, translates, and adds punctuation, look no further. Working from the Chrome platform, this talk to text app might quickly become your personal assistant. The only drawback might be for Mac users since it doesn’t currently come with an iOS compatible version.
- Nursing Central – This study app includes access to five medical reference sources including Davis’s Drug Guide, Taber’s Medical Dictionary, Davis’s Laboratory, Diagnostic Tests, Diseases, and Disorders, as well as Medline Journals and Medline Search. This app is an annual subscription, and it contains essential reference information that every nursing student needs. The Medline Journals alone provide access to over 24 million citations.
- Quizlet – Create flash cards, diagrams, and other study aids to help you prepare for major exams and projects. You can use this study app on multiple devices, making it a perfect study buddy on-the-go. You can have access to Quizlet’s flash card packets, or you can even create your own. This app is a convenient and affordable study aid for college students.
- MDCalc Medical Calculator – If it’s good enough for over 1.2 million medical professionals, it should be helpful for you. Developed by the leading medical reference company, MDCalc, this app contains clinical calculators and evidence-based medical reference information for patient care.
- Radiology Assistant 2.0 – A complete guide of radiologic images, this app is a helpful study aid for students in radiology and imaging technology and a valuable diagnostic aid for professionals.
- Goodbudget – This simple budget app is based on the old-school concept of cash envelopes. Goodbudget is an easy, visual way to stay on budget while you’re working toward your goals.
