Thomas L. Werner

As president and chief executive officer of Adventist Health System from 1999 to 2006, and president and CEO of Florida Hospital from 1984 to 1999, Thomas Werner was instrumental in the growth and development of AHU. In 1993, Werner established the SHARES (now Sharing Smiles) program through the AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida, (then Florida Hospital Foundation) to initiate support for international medical missions. Then and now, Sharing Smiles medical teams provide life-changing services and surgeries, benefiting patients with volunteers who share clinical skill and human compassion. Over 26 years, thousands of children have received cleft lip and palate repair surgery through the program, known today as AdventHealth Sharing Smiles.
