Behnam Emami, PhD, MLS (ASCP)

Behnam Emami PhD MLS(ASCP) is the MLS Program Director and a seasoned High Complexity Laboratory Director with more than two decades of progressive leadership across clinical, esoteric, and academic laboratory environments. Holding national board designations as an HCLD and Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), along with state licensure in NY, CA, and FL, he brings a comprehensive command of laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, and quality systems. His career includes directing large, multi‑site CLIA‑certified laboratories, overseeing performance improvement initiatives, managing complex budgets, and ensuring adherence to state and federal standards.

In addition to his administrative and technical expertise, he has an extensive academic background, including years of teaching experience at both the undergraduate and internship levels. He has served as an adjunct and assistant professor in microbiology and clinical laboratory science, where he taught advanced coursework, mentored students, and supported their transition into professional practice. At AHU, he brings this blend of scientific rigor, leadership experience, and instructional skills to support the next generation of Medical Laboratory Scientists.
