Biography

Dana Thomas, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CCRN, is an AHU alumnus who joined the faculty at AdventHealth University in 2025. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the ASN Program. Education includes DNP- Chamberlain University (Advanced Nursing Practice track), MSN-APRN, Maryville University (Family Nurse Practitioner track), and BSN – AHU. Dr. Thomas is an active member of several committees within the Department of Nursing. As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Thomas has extensive clinical experience in the Department of Corrections, Internal Medicine, Diabetes Management, and Urgent Care. She also holds certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN). Her passion for diabetes care began while working for several years in a diabetes clinical trial, where she served as clinical lead. This work sparked a continued interest in diabetes management, which became the focus of her DNP project and remains a central part of her practice. Dedicated to both education and patient care, Dr. Thomas finds great fulfillment in her dual roles as a faculty member and practicing Family Nurse Practitioner. She remains committed to serving her community through both clinical practice and academic leadership.
