We take great pride in the rigor of our curriculum and our students' thirst for success. Setting the bar high in our radiography program admission requirements helps maintain those standards from the beginning.
Quick Facts:
Application Deadline: January 3
Program Start: Summer Trimester
Cohort Size:
- Orlando: max of 30
- Denver: max of 10 (based on faculty and clinical site availability)
Students must reside in Florida or Colorado to be enrolled in the program.
Apply for General Studies Admission
Whether you're a first-time college student or transferring from another school, all on-campus undergraduate applicants must first apply for General Studies admission at AHU.
Apply to the Radiography Program
- Submit Program Application
-
Submit the Radiography Program Application, once admitted to the University. The application can be accessed at my.ahu.edu.
- Minimum GPA
-
Have a minimum cumulative high school unweighted GPA of 2.70 or have taken 12 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.70 from a regionally accredited institution. Although the minimum GPA for application is 2.70, the competitive nature of the program typically results in a higher minimum accepting GPA. GPAs presented to the admissions committee for each applicant will be a cumulative record of all college-level work. Applicants that have completed a minimum of 12 college-level credits at AHU and have completed the prerequisite courses by the application deadline will be given preference for program admission. Applicants should be advised that the prerequisite course, College Algebra, must be completed by the program start date.
- ACT/SAT Score
-
2023-2024 Update: For general studies and program admission for the 2023-2024 academic year, AHU will be test-optional and not require submission of ACT or SAT scores. However, AHU strongly encourages applicants who have ACT and/or SAT scores to submit them during the application process, as this will expedite course placement and enhance academic advising.
A minimum ACT composite score of 19, or a combined SAT score of 910 (rSAT: 990). Applicants with 24 or more credits from a regionally accredited college are exempt from taking the ACT or SAT.
- Prerequisites
-
Successfully complete College Algebra with a minimum grade of a C, or 2.00.
- Recommendation Forms
-
Submit two recommendations on AHU Recommendation Forms. If an applicant to an undergraduate program has completed at least one trimester at AdventHealth University before being admitted to a program, one of the two recommendations must come from any AHU faculty member, adjunct professor, tutoring coordinator, chaplain, or academic coach/advisor. Special recommendation forms for this requirement are available in the Office of Enrollment Services.
- Essay
-
Your essay must be 500-750 words and use correct grammar and spelling. The essay should address each of the following: the applicant's reasons for wanting to enter the Radiography program; the applicant's reasons for wanting to pursue this course of study at AdventHealth University, a faith-based institution, and future goals; the applicant's characteristics and abilities that qualify him or her for this profession; the applicant's motivation for choosing a career in Radiography; and the applicant's perception of how radiologic technologists contribute to healthcare and how an educational experience at AdventHealth University will enable the applicant to make future contributions.
- Interview
-
Competitive applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Meeting the minimum admissions requirements does not guarantee an invitation for an interview. Every applicant who wishes to be accepted to the program must complete the interview process.
Additional Enrollment Requirements
Students who are accepted to our radiography program will also need to meet the following requirements in order to enroll.
- Deposit
-
Each applicant accepted to an on-campus professional program is expected to pay a nonrefundable deposit of $200 to reserve his or her place in the program. The applicant’s acceptance letter will contain a deposit amount and deadline indicating when the deposit must be received by the University. Once the student enrolls in the program, this deposit will be applied toward the student’s account. Students who have paid the deposit, but decide not to enroll in the program, will forfeit the deposit. If that student is admitted to the same program at a later date, he or she will be required to pay the full deposit amount again. If an applicant is admitted to a program with prerequisites in progress and becomes ineligible for admission due to his or her grades, a full refund will be provided. A professional program deposit is not transferable to another department.
- Additional Expenses
-
The following list outlines some of the additional expenses that you may incur as a student in the Radiography Program. This is not all inclusive. There will be other expenses, such as gas and tolls that you will incur on an ongoing basis. The below list is normally a one-time cost.
